Local Context
The project is located in the municipality of Pium, Tocantins, and aims to implement and disseminate sustainable practices in communities in the region. I happened between 2006 and 2007, and included partners such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Seagro, Ruraltins and Pium’s City Hall.
Project Description
The project included training and technical assistance to small farmers, implementation of sustainable alternatives for the extraction of vegetable oils, honey processing and implementation of Agroforestry Systems (AFS) in communities.
Among the results, the highlights were the development of a press to extract vegetable oils from Cerrado fruits; implementation of a Honey House; implementation of Agroforestry Systems (SAF’s); creation of project dissemination mechanisms seeking to replicate actions and technologies in other communities.
