The internet made expanding craftwork sales from Amazon’s riverside and indigenous communities available. Because of this, they have an alternative and sustainable income possibility.
The pieces made from wood, plant fiber, seeds, rocks and vine can now be sold for the whole country.P
The sales involves directly 121 families from 10 communities from rivers Negro, Amazonas and Solimões. The project is developed by Sustainable Amazon Foundation – FAS, an NGO that acts in the State.
Before the creation of the conservation unit, “Reserva de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Rio Negro”, illegal exctration and deforest were the main income source for families of 19 communities.
Biojewelery, bags, nets, tableware, keychain, and others are made and trade at the region and online for Brazil.
