The COP 25 has just found a new home.
After President Jair Bolsonaro withdrew the offer to host the next United Nations climate conference in Brazil, the organization’s authorities wereted no time in finding a new venue for the event.
The so-called COP 25 not only changed location, but also had the date changed. Originally planned to take place in November in Brazil, the conference will now take place in Santiago, Chile in December.
Chile’s entry as host was led by the country’s environment minister, Carolina Schmidt, the first woman to carry out the negotiations in 8 years.
The minister is committed to fighting climate change, even posting on Twitter, the week before the announcement of the new headquarters, that “we need to go after effective climate actions.”
