Shaman Davi Kopenawa, a Brazilian indigenous leader, was invited by the Harvard University in the United States to participate in an event on the Amazon that brought together Brazilian scientists and researchers on the subject.
Kopenawa was categorical in saying that the current Brazilian government is wiping out indigenous territories and weakening the National Indian Foundation, Funai.
“We do not want mining in our land, it only brings problems with water, it harms our forest, our land, I ask you to forbid mining in our land,” the leader cried.
After the speech, the shaman was applauded standing by the audience of about 120 people in the David Rockfeller auditorium.
