Local Context
The project aims to raise the standard of living of local communities through various training activities about health, production and environmental education. Funded by Natura Cosmetics, the project is located in flooded forest in the area of the Canguçu Research Center on the right bank of the Javaés River, surrounding the Bananal Island, in the municipality of Pium, Tocantins. It began in 2001 and ended in 2003.
Project Description
The project developed family health programs, with courses to more than 70 participants; strengthening of productive units, with a total of 111 participants in agro-ecology courses; donation of seedlings; implementation of agroforestry systems in local communities; associations and cooperatives courses for more than 90 participants.
